This study is designed to inspire you to participate in that same pattern of grace-giving by taking simple walks across rooms – leaving your “Circle of Comfort” and extending hands of care, compassion, and inclusiveness to people who might need a touch of God’s love today.

This class is the first in a series of 4 eight-week studies that will explore the entire Bible over the next year at an overview level for those who are brand-new to the Bible. For those more familiar with the Bible, this class will also explore the Bible from the perspective of its big picture themes (God's grace in covenant, Abraham's family tree, the first Christian communities, etc.), and answer questions like, "Why does Genesis end with Joseph?" The class will be taught viewing the Bible from many themes and timelines to understand how all of the pieces of the puzzle fit together as God's unique message for each of us, and that it is just as relevant today as when it was written! This first eight-week series begins with the basics, and moves into the first few books of the Bible--with topics such as "Finding Your Way Around the Bible, the Bible's Reliability, the Books of Moses, the Period of Beginnings, & Abraham, the Man of Faith, and Abraham's Family." The text for this course will be used for the entire year. Weekly reading will consist of 8-10 pages from the textbook and a few chapters from the Bible.

Power of a Praying Parent
Teacher: Shelly Hauer

In this eight-week class, we’ll look at the importance of praying for our children, covering thirty-one different areas of concern. In small groups, class participants will discuss their parenting experiences as they relate to each chapter’s prayer concerns: sharing what strategies have worked for them as well as sharing topics they’re currently struggling with. In addition to the eight CORE class meetings, this group of participants will meet one more time (in a home location) with children, so we, as a group, can pray directly over those children we’ve lifted up throughout our time together in class. (Based on Stormie Omartian’s book, Power of a Praying Parent.)

10:00 am
Dates: January 4, 2009 – February 22, 2009
11:15 am
Many scholars recognize three main categories of spiritual gifts from the scriptures. This course will feature just one of these categories, known as "Motivational Gifts". While each person has a unique mix of God-given gifts, everyone has one, primary motivational gift which forms the basis of the personality and behavior of the individual. Identifying and understanding motivational gifts will promote unity and harmony in the church by decreasing judgmentalism and criticism. Once you understand your own motivational gift and learn to identify the gifts in others, your ability to relate to people will improve dramatically. The course is fun, enlightening and has enormous practical application.

Have you ever considered whether it has anything to do with your actual life in the modern world?
