This Years Event!

2009 Styled for Giving

Center Pointe's Sixth Annual Styled for Giving fashion show, luncheon and silent auction will be held on on Sat, March 28  Look for more information on this event in early Spring of '09.

One hundred percent of the profits from this event will go to IN Network USA, to support their efforts in releasing girls in Ghana from the Trokosi practice of sexual slavery.

For hundreds of years in the Volta region of Ghana, West Africa, the Trokosi practice (Trokosi is a Ghanaian word meaning "slaves to the Gods") has been enslaving young virgin girls in ritualistic sexual bondage. These innocent virgins, some as young as five years old, are given by their parents under the fear of the death curses of the Fetish (village) Priest to serve a life of slavery in the Fetish shrines as payment for the crimes and offenses of others.

However, the power of God is at work as approximately 31 shrines have stopped the practice through the efforts of Rev. Water Pimpong and his staff, and over 3,500 women have been freed. But, there are still an estimated 2,000 more slave girls in bondage, not including their 8,000 children who are fathered by the priests and are also subjected to a life of captivity and abuse. The role of IN Network/Ghana does not end with the release of these women--it is just the beginning. Each of them is welcomed into IN Network's Vocational Training Program which teaches them to read and write the local language, provides them with nutritious meals, healthcare/counseling, clothing, and equips each woman with a marketable skill.  Over 95% of these freed women have given their lives to Christ!

Styled for Giving

Styled for Giving is an annual event hosted by the women’s ministry at Center Pointe Christian Church. The program includes an elegant luncheon, fashion show and silent auction. This event has become very popular within the CPCC family, but is also becoming a valuable opportunity to reach out to our family, friends and neighbors who may be seeking a church home.

This event was created with a vision to raise money to benefit women’s charities in the local community, thereby demonstrating God’s love to those in need. Since its inception in 2002, the event has raised over $70,000. Past beneficiaries have included The Dove House, Butler County’s only protective shelter for victims of domestic violence and Parkdale Home for Youth, a foster home for teenage girls at risk.

In 2005, Women’s Ministry felt led by God to expand the vision of Styled for Giving to include our sisters in Christ internationally. We became aware of an urgent need in Ghana, Africa and partnered with International Needs Network (IN Network) in their Trokosi project.  Our March 2007 event was blessed beyond measure, as we raised just under $25,000 for this project!
