A team of seven from Center Pointe took part in a mission trip with FAME (Fellowship of Associates of Medical Evangelism) February 17-24, 2006. FAME exists to spread the fame of Jesus Christ to all nations through medical evangelism--leading people to Christ while meeting real physical needs. Center Pointe financially supports FAME and host missionaries Trevor and Valerie Colby in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The team of seven from Center Pointe (shown below) were part of a group of 20 people--lead by host missionaries, the Colbys--who traveled to poor, rural areas and set up medical camps. About half of the team of 20 was medical personnel, while the other half had little or no medical backgrounds. Each person was used to his or her abilities, with the overall purpose of the medical camps to make a presence in the villages, to share Christ's healing love, and to be the hands and feet of Christ to the Hondurans. Because of the mission team's presence in these villages, the Colbys and other Honduran-native church workers could build foundational relationships with the Honduran people so that in the future, a Honduran pastor could come and start a church plant in each of the villages. The team of 20 also visited several hospitals in the capital city of Tegucigalpa to pray and give hope to those suffering.
